Grit is about soil, land, courage, resilience. Grit is about powering through adversity to opportunity. Many of these woodcut prints are inspired by my childhood in an eastern North Carolina farm community in the 1960s.
I hope my hand-cut and hand-printed images capture the authentic grit of these meaningful lives. I’m reminded again how my own story as an artist emerged from the inspiration of hard-working parents, grandparents, and the farmers I had the privilege to grow up with.
